Home » Services » Manipulation Under Anesthesia

Relieve chronic pain with MUA.

Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) is a non-invasive option for relieving chronic pain that results from the formation of scar tissue. This procedure can diminish pain in the neck, back, or joints. It is often used for patients suffering from failed back surgery, myofascial pain syndrome, head pain, fibromyalgia, sciatica, and frozen shoulder.

  • Unlike traditional surgery methods, MUA allows you to experience a faster recovery and resume working and doing other regular activities sooner.
  • The goal of MUA is to get you to experience significantly less pain than before and to restore your range of motion.

How does it work?

During Manipulation Under Anesthesia, you will be placed under general anesthesia or sedated. In some cases, just your spine will be injected with anesthesia. While you are under anesthesia, your doctor will use stretches and other maneuvers to break up and reduce scar tissue in your spine, shoulder, or other area.
